Have you ever wondered about the power of crystals/gems? Did you know that crystals have the metaphysical power of healing? Using certain crystal methods, crystal or gem healing can help a number of physical problems. This metaphysical healing relies on the innate powers of healing crystals or healing gems. For example, Rose Quartz is great for emotional healing, Amethyst crystals for headaches, Malachite for the stomach, Lapis for anxiety, and Jade for the heart....just to name a few.

From as far back as the days of the legendary lost city of Atlantis, through the ancient Mayan and Hebrew civilizations, and including Far Eastern and Native American cultures, crystals and gemstones have been used both in spiritual rituals and as aids to physical healing.

How do crystals work? No one seems to know for sure. Tales tell that they were first used in Atlantis. Crystals became important to the people of that civilization who believed in their capacity to store and amplify any power source fed into them - physical, mental, emotional, or spiritual. Practitioners of modern-day crystal therapy believe that the stones' ability to work as a conductor allows them to focus energy via a person's thoughts to stimulate healing - both physical and non physical.

Crystals are used in meditation and spiritual ceremonies, laid on the body during types of massage or bodywork, when a person is resting, or placed in drinking or bathing waters. It is claimed that an odd number of facets on the stone aid in healing, while an even number of facets create the best energizers. Red, yellow, and orange stones are said to produce energy, clear and Aquamarine stones are healers, and Lavender and blue-violet stones create calming effects.

To cleanse and then purify your crystals:

Soak the crystal in one cup sea salt dissolved in one quart of purified or spring water in a glass bowl. Meditate and ask that the crystal be cleared. Soak from 15 minutes to one full day depending upon how many people have touched the stone. Rinse under cool water and dry with cotton or silk. Place outside in the sun and moon for 24 hours.

If you feel that negative energy is being sent at you or someone touched your crystals, do all of the above, but after the salt, rinse and then soak in coconut juice, you can buy this in the Ethnic aisle at the grocery store, then do the sun and moon cleanse. Types of Crystals and their benefits:

Abalone:

Although not a crystal, Abalone Shell has been used for centuries in jewelry and carvings. Nick named the sea ears, the Abalone's flattened, oval shape with iridescent interior was used by the Native Northwest American Indians as a natural vessel for cleansing, offerings and prayers. Embracing the colors of the ocean, the shell displays iridescent colors in its blues, greens, purples and yellows. This unique shell embodies all the aspects of the water element including love, beauty, gentleness, caring, comfort, peacefulness delight and solace. It is soft to the touch from repeated tumbling in the sand and water.

Abalone is useful for handling and calming emotional situations and is very soothing to the mind and body. When working through any emotional situation, have abalone nearby as it is believed to be beneficial and promotes cooperation. Abalone is associated with all the chakra energies. Abalone is especially good for the heart Chakra, as it gently clears the heart of fear, sorrow and negative emotions and for the solar plexus Chakra since it stimulates your gut feeling. Abalone allows your intuitive resources to stimulate psychic development and intuition through the third eye Chakra. Abalone has been used for arthritis and other joint disorders, muscle problems, the heart, and digestion.

Abalone can be cleansed and discharged of negative energy every month by running it under warm water or placing it in a bowl of water and adding a teaspoon of sea salt. Charge abalone by the light of the sun and/or full moon for 24 to 48 hours.

Agate:

Known as the protector of children also known as a fertility stone used for centuries. It is believed to prevent miscarriages and alleviate discomfort during pregnancy. Agate enables the person wearing it to choose their friends carefully, to trust in their intuition and to enhance honesty in any given situation. This stone helps us to have patience and allows us to own our inner peace. Composed of microscopic crystals of quartz laid down in colorful bands or ribbons. The appearance of the stone is waxy and soft. Almost always translucent and occasionally transparent. Agates are grounding stones and are one of the oldest good luck stones. They help obtain a better physical/emotional balance. They work to raise consciousness and build self-confidence. Used to avert from lighting and stormy weather that is physically and metaphysically, Agate brings people much prosperity.

Use Agate as a gazing tool for divination and meditation. Agate balances emotions and brings insight to any situation. Agate is said to enhance one's perceptiveness and to stimulate analytical capacity, and to provide balance between one's physical, emotional, intellectual and spiritual states. Agate is also said to alleviate hostilities and promote goodwill.

Amber is used for past life work. It aligns mental and emotional bodies via its deep orange and yellow color. The purpose of this gemstone is to bring to light that which is hidden from the conscious mind. It dissolves suppressed negative patterns and purifies them. These stones are said to bring good luck to those possessing them. Black obsidian is a powerful meditation stone. It can create a some what radical behavior change as new positive attitudes replace old, negative, egocentric patterns. The Apache tears are also said to balance the emotional nature and protect one from being took advantage of. It can be carried as an amulet to stimulate success in business endeavors. It is used at the root Chakra for grounding and protection.

History: The haunting legend about the Apache Tear is about the Pinal Apaches, who had made several raids on a settlement in Arizona. The military and some volunteers trailed the tracks of the stolen cattle and waited for dawn to attack the Apaches. The Apaches, confident in the safety of their location, were completely surprised and out-numbered in the attack. Nearly 50 of the band of 75 Apaches were killed in the first volley of shots. The rest of the tribe retreated to the cliff's edge and chose death by leaping over the edge rather than die at the hands of the white men. For years afterward those who ventured up the treacherous face of Big Pacacho in Arizona found skeletons, or could see the bleached bones wedged in the crevices of the side of the cliff.

The Apache women and the lovers of those who had died gathered a short distance from the base of the cliff where the sands were white, and for a moon they wept for their dead. They mourned greatly, for they realized that not only had their 75 brave Apache warriors died, but with them had died the great fighting spirit of the Pinal Apaches.

Their sadness was so great, and their burden of sorrow so sincere that the Great Father imbedded into black stones the tears of the Apache women who mourned their dead. These black Obsidian stones, when held to the light, reveal the translucent Tear of the Apache.

Aquamarine:

This is an excellent stone when recovering from and illness. A great stone for stress relief and one of great courage, tranquility, it is uplifting, openness, innocence, lightheartedness, creativity, communication, self-awareness, confidence, purpose, throat, spleen, heart Chakra. It is helpful to those who wear it, in regards to finding love, promoting fidelity and smoothing out differences between others. This stone has especially been used for protection on journeys, especially those who travel on water this stone has the calming soothing energy of the sea. Affects Etheric and mental levels. Helps stabilize and harmonize unsettled surroundings. Helps reduce fears. Has an affinity with sensitive and mystical people.

Copper:

According to myths, Copper has the ability to conduct spiritual energy back and forth between individuals, crystals, Auras, the mind and the spirit world. Coral:

Coral protects and strengthens emotional foundation and helps to enliven emotions, loosen muscles, blood, heart, reproductive system, thyroid, metabolism, spine, bone and tissue regeneration. Not to be used with high blood pressure.

Diamond:

When considering the use of a Diamond for healing purposes, one must ignore its monetary value and concentrate upon the stone's unique relationship with energy. It is frequently combined with other gems or crystals. If used with an Aquamarine, a Diamond will increase the cleansing properties and mental soothing that Aquamarine helps to produce. It should only be worn when the wearer feels the need to have it near. They were used to strengthen memory, to aid in eloquence, and to reveal the truth or falsity of a lover's oaths. Most effective on the heart Chakra perhaps because it access desires held deep within. Emerald provides inspiration and helps those in need of balance, healing, and infinite patience. The pale, clear, green emeralds are valuable in meditative work, as well as in healing work. It works best when combined with a Diamond or worn alone.

Opens heart (especially green), throat brow, crown Chakra for clarity, overview, seeing additional truths/realities. Aids in: Spleen, bones, teeth, lungs, detoxification, anxiety, insomnia.

Therefore, Garnet is good for those who have anger issues directed to themselves, NOT for those who spew anger like venom or attack others with their own anger, many of us know someone whom always need to hate a person, any person, they would do better in healing with an orange or yellow stone.

When Garnet is used in conjunction with the pituitary gland, can help provide past-life information. Should be placed on the center of the forehead. If carried around in the pocket and then placed on the forehead of another person, closer ties will form with that individual. Garnet is a stone of commitment.

Garnet has been used for protection against the perils of travel. It encourages a strength and therefore, personal power, which increases success, a victorious attitude and sparks the energies of creativity through our Kundalini starting at the base of the root Chakra. Garnet's emotional connection makes it most effective when placed at the 2nd or sacral/spleen Chakra. Known to balance out sexual energy by both increasing libido or decreasing sexual addiction. Gold has always been a symbol of great wealth and attracts wealth to anyone wearing it, our countries base our money system on Gold. It is said to bring us much happiness and feelings of comfort. It is the mineral of spirituality, magic, understanding, and attunement to nature. It attracts positive energy and is a wonderful healing mineral.
