Peridot
Peridot is the birthstone for the month of August birthstone and the gem designated for the 16th wedding anniversary. It is one of the few healing gemstones, which come in one color only. However, it ranges in shades of green from pistachio to olive, dark lime and bottle green.
The rich, green color with slight hints of gold is caused by very fine traces of iron. The intensity of the color depends on the amount of iron actually present. Peridot is not a very hard gem you must handle it carefully, it is highly sensitive to rapid temperature changes.
